High Peak Buses have announced changes to services due to the coronavirus crisis.

The company will be reducing the frequency of a number of services from Saturday.

While Government guidance advised against using public transport unless essential, some people still need bus services to get to work, visit family or access services, the company said.

A reduction in the number of people using public transport has already been seen, and with that expected to fall further, the reduction in frequency will continue until further notice.

These are the services that will be affected:

185/186 Burlow to Fairfield via Harpur Hill and Buxton

A revised timetable will be introduced on Monday to Saturday together services 185 and 186 will provide up to two buses an hour between Burlow, Harpur Hill, Buxton town centre and Fairfield Centre. The evening round trip to Burlow and Harpur Hill will not operate.

Skyline 199 will continue to provide daytime Sunday buses between Buxton town centre and Fairfield and Trans Peak will continue to serve Burlow up to every two hours daily.

A revised timetable will be introduced with buses running up to every 60 minutes with an earlier finish time daily.

Trans Peak: Buxton to Derby via Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Belper

A reduced daily timetable will be introduced with buses running every two hours between Buxton, Burlow, Taddington, Ashford-in-the-Water, Bakewell, Rowsley, Darley Dale, Matlock, Ambergate, Belper, Duffield and Derby.

“While the latest Government guidance advises against the use of public transport unless it’s for essential reasons, we know there will still be people who need bus services to get to work, visit loved ones or access essential services.

“With that number of passengers expected to fall further and after careful consideration we have made the decision to reduce the frequency of a number of bus services provided by High Peak Buses.”
