The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that suicide notes had been written by both individuals.

At 3.57 am on Saturday, the policeman stopped Hollinghurst and Goode and called for back up. When the first deputy arrived, Officer German was lying on the roadway, mortally wounded. At the same time, shots were heard in the area.

The officer was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound in hospital. Hollinghurst and Goode were discovered dead under some bushes.

Friend Grace Etchells tweeted on Sunday: “So horrible knowing a very close friend from primary Alex Hollinghurst sadly got taken from us in such horrific circumstances. RIP, lovely.”
