Step into a soap star’s shoes with Rotary charity auction

Over 100 lots will go under the hammer of celebrity auctioneer Adam Partridge, of Cash in the Attic and Flog It! fame, during a Promises Auction organised by The Rotary Club of Buxton.

The auction will be held at the Pavilion Arts Centre on Thursday April 3, with all the proceeds being shared between Buxton-based charities Nightstop and Charis House, which support local families and individuals in need.

Among the lots will be four costumes worn on Coronation Street by Liz Dawn, aka Vera Duckworth, and characters Fizz Stape, Kylie Platt and Karl Munro, played by Jennie Macalpine, Paula Lane and John Michie respectively.

Also up for grabs will be an exclusive visit to Chatsworth House for up to four people, including coffee with the head housekeeper and a behind the scenes tour, followed by free admission to the house and gardens.

Other lots range from lunches, dinners or afternoon teas at various locations, to having your lawn cut or house cleaned.

For anyone whose home is in need of a makeover, there’s a Grand Design promise or a two-hour consultation with a landscape architect.

Anne Rogerson, a Buxton Rotary member who is helping organise the event, said: “The range of promises is vast, even including tuition on a variety of subjects.

“There’s also the chance to enjoy a visit to the theatre or a dynamic demonstration and hands-on experience of the fire engine equipment at Buxton Fire Station.

“If all that’s too much excitement, a relaxing week in a five-star cottage or a day of spa pampering may be more to people’s taste, or perhaps even a canoe journey through time.”

Viewing of the lots will commence at 6.45pm on the night, with the auction getting underway at 7.30pm.

All 117 lots are listed in a catalogue, which is on sale now, priced £2. This entitles the owner to a free bid number on the night.

Anyone unable to attend the auction can still take part by sending in a completed sealed bid form, found at the back of the catalogue.

One form per bid is allowed (return details on the form), although additional forms can be photocopied.
