SLIDESHOW: CCTV of people police want to speak to in connection with crimes in Chesterfield and Amber Valley

Police have released CCTV images of people they would like to speak to in connection with a number of shoplifting and fraud offences.

The offences occurred at stores in Chesterfield and the Amber Valley between August and October this year. Items stolen include alcohol, food, cash, clothes and electrical equipment.

Officers are encouraging members of the public to help aid their investigations by identifying the people shown in the CCTV images.

Sergeant Dave Harrison of the Amber Valley and Chesterfield Community Safety Partnerships said: “Shoplifting has a significant cost to the local economy and it is a crime that Derbyshire police and our Community Safety Partnerships take seriously.

“Shoplifting offences across the division have increased by 7% compared to the same period last year and we are working hard to combat that trend and bring those responsible to justice.

“Many businesses in Amber Valley and Chesterfield are members of the Shopwatch scheme, and those arrested for shoplifting offences may not only face a criminal prosecution but also a Shopwatch ban, banning them from entering shops in those areas. This in turn could then lead to a Criminal Behaviour Order for individuals who breach those bans and continue to commit crime.

“We would like to speak to the people shown in the CCTV images to help us with our inquiries into shoplifting and fraud offences across the Chesterfield and Amber Valley areas.”
