Pupils lend a hand to partner school in Africa

The Buxton Community School students also painted ten classrooms and delivered several suitcases of exercise books, pens and pencils to their partner school Kissi Ebenezer.

Science teacher Aleks Kashefi, who accompanied the trip of year tens, said: “The Buxton students were amazing ambassadors for the school and the whole town.

“They embraced the Ghanian culture learning their language, traditions and even attending church. The Ghanian school was extremely grateful and it was amazing to see the positive impact our kids had by going there and working on a daily basis on renovating and improving the conditions at the school.

“It was good to see the money raised go direct from one community to the next and I know that they are going to be missed by their Ghanian student buddies as well as the staff and trip helpers they came in to contact with.

“As the trip has now set up the link between our two communities, I’m looking forward to future trips to Kissi Ebenezer, with a new group of students.”
