Natural England has awarded £42,000 to support work on the High Peak Trail, supported by £18,000 from the Peak District National Park Authority.

Following work last year, the improvements will mean the whole stretch of the trail between Newhaven Crossing and Parsley Hay cycle hire centre is at least three metres wide.

Emma Stone, trails manager at the authority, said: “Widening it to a minimum of three metres should make the whole experience much safer and more enjoyable for everyone.’’

The High Peak Trail runs for 17 miles from Dowlow, near Buxton, to High Peak Junction at Cromford.
