Poster competition to promote Fairtrade

The Green Man Galley, in Buxton, generously hosted a display of the winning and highly commended entries in this year’s High Peak competition to design a poster to promote Fairtrade products.

At a reception held in the gallery, the mayor of High Peak, Councillor Stuart Young, presented the prizes and certificates to the winners.

Artists at the gallery judged the winners from some excellent entries.

“We found it very difficult to choose the winners,” said Penny Kill.

The winner in the primary category was Harry Relton, with runners up Katie Redfern and Libby McNamara.

The winner in the secondary category was Caitlin Betts with runners up Jasmine Habgood and Isabel Townend.

The winner of the adult category of the competition, was Anne Harrey.

“It has been a pleasure to support the Fairtrade group in its endeavours with promoting Fairtrade in the borough,” Cllr Young commented.

“The committee is delighted to thank all those who entered the competition and helped spread the message that fair trading is the best way to support poor communities in overcoming poverty, and everyone who came to this reception,” said Charles Jolly, chairman of the High Peak Borough Fairtrade Steering Group, which organised the contest.
