UKIP top European poll in East Midlands
Roger Helmer, who defected from the Conservatives mid-term, and Margot Parker will represent the region for UKIP in Brussels and Strasbourg after the party polled 368,734 votes, a 32.9 per cent overall share.

Hide AdThe Conservative Party also won two seats after claiming 291,270 votes, with Emma McClarkin retaining her MEP status and being joined by former Derbyshire County Council leader Andrew Lewer.
Labour received 279,363 votes and have one seat, with Glenis Willmott re-elected.
The Liberal Democrats, with 60,773 votes, lost their seat and were pushed into fifth place behind the Green Party (67,066).
