Police issue security reminder to homeowners

Police are encouraging home owners to keep their property secure to prevent being targeted by criminals.

Safer Neighbourhood policing teams are encouraging homeowners to increase their security to help protect their property.

Between 9pm on March 17 and 7am on March 18, offenders made an untidy search of two insecure vehicles parked on a driveway of a property on Hayfield Road, New Mills. Offenders also entered the garage of the property but no items were taken from the garage or the vehicles.

And at around 5.45pm on March 18, offenders caused damage to a property on Stiles Close, Hadfield, by forcing open the garage door. Offenders entered the garage but fled when they were disturbed by the home owner.

Residents are also being advised to check that any outbuildings, sheds and garages are properly secure and that valuable items are kept out of view from passers-by.
