Police crackdown on problem parking in Whaley Bridge
Motorists have been causing problems in the area by using access only roads as a cut through or parking along them, preventing other drivers from passing safely. This includes using Old Road as a shortcut to bypass traffic lights in the town.
Now the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team will be increasing patrols in the area and speaking to drivers about the importance of safe and considerate driving.

Hide AdPCSO Tracy Jones from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team said: “Old Road is an access only road and should only be used by residents, visitors to an address or access to one of the business premises.
“Anyone seen using Old Road as a short cut or parking inconsiderately so that they cause an obstruction or a danger to other road users are committing offences under the road traffic act and could be liable for prosecution.
“We are asking motorists to be considerate and responsible to help keep local roads safe.”
