Playgroup to hold cycling sportive through Peaks

A community-run playgroup in the Hope Valley is holding a 48-mile cycle race next month to raise funds for its upkeep.

Bradwell Preschool, has organised the Bradwell Hill Billy on June 29, a challenging sportive, which involves climbing seven hills and a total ascent of 2,300 metres.

The event starts and finishes at Bradwell Sports Pavilion, on Stretfield, and features Bole Hill in Hathersage, Burbage in Grindleford, Sir William Hill in Eyam, Stoney, Cressbrook in Bradwell, Smalldale Hill in Castleton and Winnatts Pass.

Cyclists can opt for a the shorter Kid Sister 34-mile route, which omits Smalldale Hill and Winnatts Pass, while adventurous families can take part in the family fun ride.

Entry to the Hill Billy costs £20 and £17 for Kid Sister. The family ride is free of charge, but donations towards the Netherside preschool would be welcome.
