The force was strong as Uncicon returned to Buxton's Devonshire Dome last week.

Hundreds flocked to see the Daleks exterminating and to pose with Shiva the Tiger on Sunday, and organiser Steven Howard said Buxton’s second comic convention was a great success.

He said: “It was great seeing so many people make such an effort with their costumes and the atmosphere in the Dome was really good.”

Bad weather in Yorkshire prevented a 35-foot inflatable Stay Puft making its way across to Buxton, but that was the only blemish on what was described as a fantastic day.

Steven said: “Unicon was on the same day as a big comic convention in Birmingham but we still managed to pull in the same numbers from our first event back in May.

“We didn’t want to make it too specific and focus on just one sci-fi genre like Star Wars or Doctor Who, so we had a little bit of everything to please everyone.”

There were guests from Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Prometheus, Pan, CBBC, Marvel’s Dr Strange and Torchwood, along with photo opportunities with Lightning McQueen, Captain America and Pokemon characters.

Unicon is returning in May next year, when Clem So, who has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars and Doctor Who, is booked to appear.
