Crews were called Goyt’s Moss Moor near Derbyshire Bridge around 6pm yesterday evening (Sunday, May 6) where they found a patch of moorland ablaze. The fire was 20 by 20 metres and raged for hours.

Crews used six pumps, two hose reel jets and beaters to put out the blaze.

Residents said the smoke was still visible into the late evening and could be seen as far as Sheffield.
