Tesco store responds to High Peak MP's plea on disposable barbecues

Disposable barbecues have been removed from a Buxton store’s till points after an appeal by the town’s MP.

High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed Tesco's action in removing disposable barbecues from till points at its outlet on London Road, Buxton.

The Tesco outlet at London Road, which is attached to a petrol station, made the move after Robert Largan wrote to the company.

Mr Largan said: “There have recently been several fires, some thought to be caused by disposal barbeques. That’s why I’ve been working to support the Peak District National Park’s efforts to educate visitors about how to behave responsibly in the countryside.

“I am pleased that Tesco have responded to my request. I call on all retailers to act responsibly with the items that they stock.”
