Pictures: High Peak village hosts 'fabulous' fete week

Villagers enjoyed a day of traditional attractions and community spirit – to celebrate the end of a ‘fabulous’ fete week.

The Peak Dale Fete Day took place on Saturday at the Peak Dale Football Pitch.

Festivities included the village's famous on-land boat race, a dog show, tug of war, lads v dads football match and 'Grand National' along with attractions including a tombola, raffles, games, face painting and rides.

Committee member Marie Keable said: “We had a fabulous fete week in Peak Dale starting with The Pram Race on July 12, a midweek quiz, the fete itself and ending with a Car Treasure Hunt on Sunday.

"Peak Dale Village Committee want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed the day and our sponsors who help us fund the day. Donations from the proceeds of all village events are made throughout the year to local causes including Peak Dale School and The Peaks Preschool.”

The event also included a market street of local stallholders and a display of small traction engines.

Live entertainment was provided by Tideswell Band, Dom the Busker and local band, Long in the Tooth. Refreshments were provided by Great Rocks Club and a variety of other food and drink stalls.

A committee spokesperson said "The turnout was beyond anything we ever imagined, and seeing the field packed with people enjoying everything our village had to offer made every single hour of planning worthwhile."
