Number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Derbyshire increase overnight to 12

Four more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Derbyshire overnight, bringing the total in the county to 12, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

It has not yet become clear where the latest cases are, although it has been confirmed that three of them are in Derby city.

The news comes after supermarkets issued warnings about panic buying, while GP practices around the county have suspended routine appointments.

Some hospitals are also restricting visitors due to concerns over Covid-19.

All the major food retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Ocado signed up to a letter urging customers to shop responsibly and ensure supplies are shared out fairly.

The joint letter states: “We want to let you know that we are doing everything we can so that you and your families have the food and essentials you need.”
