Earlier this year, the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) approved Jupiter Spring Productions Ltd’s planning application to shoot a train crash scene at the disused Darlton Quarry in Stoney Middleton.
The Film and Television Industry Alliance website states the Leavesden-based firm’s projects include Mission Impossible 7 and 8, starring Tom Cruise.
Peak District photographer Villager Jim, who has shared his picture with us, said: “You couldn’t make this up!
“There is a railroad track being built over the edge of a large cliff less than one mile from my home.
“And pretty soon there will be a train taken down the hill to then fly off the cliff edge!
“And why is that you now wonder – well it’s only Tom Cruise being filmed for the latest Mission Impossible movie.
“Can you image if I get that shot?!
“You only get that once in your life, don’t you?!”
Filming and site clearance at the quarry is expected to be complete by the end of May.
Commenting on social media, people have expressed their excitement at the prospect of Mr Cruise possibly visiting Derbyshire.
Just a couple of days ago, the Hollywood star was spotted in Yorkshire.
The 58-year-old actor was in the area to shoot scenes for Mission Impossible 7, which is scheduled for release in May 2022.
