Future of Buxton Brewery secure after buy-out deal saves 50 jobs

Following a weak recovery after the pandemic Buxton Brewery made the difficult decision to sell off the business and has been bought by Stockport company Happy Place Investors Limited.
Before the buy-out a company spokesperson said: “Buxton Brewery are indeed looking at all options to secure the future of the business.

Hide Ad“A combination of low consumer confidence, lack of business support from the government and post COVID difficulties have led us to this situation.
“However, the brand remains strong and relevant and the management team are determined to find a solution.”
Rick Harrison and Howard Smith from Interpath Advisory were appointed joint administrators to Buxton Brewery Company Limited and Axe Edge Bars Limited on 20 May 2024.
Following their appointment, the joint administrators sold certain of the business and assets of the Group to Happy Place Investors Limited.

Hide AdThe deal safeguards the future of the brewery and the Group’s taprooms and bars in Buxton and the employment of all 50 members of staff who have transferred to the purchaser as part of the transaction.

Hide AdFounded in 2009 and operating from a custom designed and built brewhouse in Buxton, Buxton Brewery produces craft ales, producing upwards of 30 distinct brews, with volumes of around 3,500 litres per brew, seven times per week.
The company supplies several supermarkets and pub chains nationally, as well as exporting overseas through a number of export partners.
In addition, the Group also operates four taprooms and bars located in Buxton, alongside a pop-up bottle shop and online store.
