Sienna Richardson took on the challenge for Crossroads Derbyshire after hearing reports that domestic violence had increased during Covid-19 while watching the news with mum Nicky Land.

Hairdresser Nicky, who told how Sienna had helped her with charity campaigns such as collecting and distributing Easter eggs since she was just two years old, described Crossroads as ‘fantastic’.

“They help with everything from court appearances and access to social services and solicitors to getting into women’s refuges and applying for housing benefits.

“With domestic violence being in the news so much during coronavirus I thought it was a good chance to raise awareness.

“So few people have heard about Crossroads because they keep everything so private and under the radar but they provide invaluable help for people trying to rebuild their lives.”

Though she will walk most of the route there is a half-a-mile stretch at the end which she will jog before reaching a pink ribbon which marks the end.

Amazingly Sienna has already raised nearly £600 - having set an original target of just £150.

Nicky said: “So many people have messaged me saying how close this cause is to their hearts.”
