Five call outs for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called out five times in 12 days at the end of August.
The lifesavers, who have just returned from a busy weekend at Chatsworth Show, have done a round up of the recent calls outs.
A BMRT spokesperson said: “On August 18 we were called to Jacob’s Ladder as Derbyshire Police requested our assistance to search for an overdue walker. Fortunately, as the team were mobilising, we received an update to confirm the walker had been located, and the team was stood down.”
On August 22 they were called out again this time for a missing child on the Monsal Trail.

The spokesperson said: “As team members were making their way to the rendezvous, the missing child was found, and the team was stood down.”
Call out 105 of the year was on August 26 at Grindslow Knoll where a walker with reported leg injury was unable to make their way off the hill.
The BMRT spokesperson said: “As the team were en route to the rendezvous, we received news that the person had been able to self-rescue. As such we were stood down as we arrived at the rendezvous point.”
This was followed by another call out on August 30 in Leek.
“We were asked to assist the Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team with a search for a vulnerable missing person.
“We deployed a group of people to conduct a foot search. Nothing was found, and our drone team was deployed. The missing person was found by a PSCO, and our team was stood down.”
The team’s most recent call out also took place on August, 30 this time in Shacklow Woods.
The spokesperson added: “While incident 106 was underway, the team received the second call out of the day - a person had sustained a nasty lower leg injury at Shacklow Woods. We splinted the injury and carried the casualty out of the woods by stretcher, where they were taken in our team 4x4 to the road head.
“Special thanks to the landowner for letting us get access, and to the villager who very kindly supplied the team with bags of plums from his tree.”
