Community volunteer Dave Carlisle said the ‘drab and unloved’ station - which starred in Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved music video - could do with a ‘splash of colour’.

Dove Holes station is captured on camera in the moving video’s opening and closing scenes - as Dr Who star Peter Capaldi waits on its platform for a train.

Amazingly, the video has been viewed nearly a billion times.

Dave, who has spent years making improvements at Buxton railway station, said: “It could do with a few flowers here and there and some artwork.

“Unfortunately the scrapyard next to the station doesn’t provide the most beautiful backdrop but there’s also a view of some beautiful hills.”

Speaking about potential volunteers, Dave, who has spent years making improvements at Buxton railway station, said commitment and a desire to help were the most important skills required.

He said: “We’re just looking for people to get involved who want to help the community.

“We’d need about four people and I could help them find the funding they’d need to get started.

“It will take a little bit of work and effort and they could put in as much or as little as they want but it would be really nice to colour it up a bit.

“If things look good they instil a bit of pride - it shows when people care about the place where they live.”

Dave is appealing for local schoolchildren to get involved by helping design some artwork for the neglected platform.

Apart from the satisfaction of seeing the station improved volunteers can also benefit from a number of free rail passes in exchange for their efforts.

Dave said: “The station’s featured in a video that’s been viewed nearly a billion times.

“But the village looks like a sad little place when you come through and needs a bit of colouring up.”
