The new branding follows on from the 2019 Visitor Economy Strategy action plan which felt it was time for the town to step away from the previous branding and produce something that was more inclusive of all areas of Buxton

Roddie MacLean, chair for Vision Buxton said: “The previous branding was questionable at best but what we will be bringing forward is something that reflects more of the community as a whole.

"Here in Buxton we have great independent shops, brilliant micro breweries and distilleries, wonderful open spaces, a great sense of community as well as the opera house and the Pavilion Gardens.

"We have culture in the countryside and the new marketing needs to reflect all that we are from Harpur Hill to Fairfield.

"We did lots of research and spoke to lots of people; we really feel this new image we will be portraying reflects how the people of Buxton already feel about themselves.”

The new branding, which is being kept underwraps until the presentation, is being backed by High Peak Borough Council, Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, Buxton Civic Association and Marketing Peak District and Derbyshire as well as Vision Buxton.

Roddie said: “Covid halted our plans as we had hoped to announce things last year but we are really excited to show people the new plans now.

"We are looking at bringing it in at the start of the 2022 tourist season and we’d love businesses to get involved.

"What we are introducing is not mandatory. Businesses don’t have to use it if they don’t want to but we feel it will be a snowball effect. We know it’s going to start small but if one business starts using it, another might and then another and then eventually we have a united view of our town and how we present ourselves and how we view ourselves.”

The new branding will be launched at a webinar tonight, Thursday May 13 at 5.30pm during Vision Buxton’s next members’ meeting but anyone with an interest in how Buxton is presented to the wider world is welcome to join.
