With help from a grant from the National Lottery, the two organisations are joining in a formal partnership for the next six months to continue work to help people during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

Caitlin Bisknell, Anna Watson and Claire Mitchell, all from Buxton Street by Street, said: “Buxton Street by Street has shown in just a few months what a strong and resilient community Buxton is.

"But with the pandemic showing little sign of ending, we wanted to make sure we were prepared for the numerous challenges ahead.

“This Lottery grant and the partnership with Connex give us the extra backing we need to grow and to flourish, so we can continue to help all of Buxton’s communities.”

Gill Geddes, chief executive at Connex Community Support, added: “We are very much looking forward to working with Claire, Caitlin, Anna and all their wonderful volunteers.

"We believe we will form a great partnership, bringing our long standing experience in delivering community services to match their fantastic local links and enthusiasm.

"Between us, we hope we will be able to support as many local people as possible and even start working towards some new joint projects”.

The partnership was instigated after Alan Thompson, a long standing Connex trustee suggested the two groups should work together.

Alan is currently undertaking a fundraising challenge, mountain biking all 19 Enduro trails in the Peak District – at the age of 75.

He hopes that his efforts will bring in some funds to enable the two organisations to work together longer term, as well as helping him to establish a new independent website, Connected Buxton, which aims to bring all sectors of the local community together and match those in need of assistance with those who can offer their help.
