Buxton Carnival and Well Dressing Festival postponed

The popular annual event usually takes place in July and it had been hoped it could go ahead this year, with the planned roadmap out of lockdown due to see an end on restrictions by June 21.

However it has now been announced that it will not be possible for the carnival to take place.

Posting on Facebook, Buxton Well Dressing said: “We are sad to announce that the Buxton Well Dressings and Carnival have been postponed and will not go ahead in July as originally hoped.

“The continuing uncertainty and risks involved with the pandemic have led us to this decision. The safety of the hundreds of people involved in the preparation for the events is of utmost importance to us and was our primary consideration.

“We are hoping to hold the Buxton Well Dressing Festival in some form in the late summer/early autumn.”
