The call to Tegg’s Nose Country Park came in on Thursday, February 18 and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT) worked with North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Search and Rescue to locate the injured woman.

Members of the public gave information about the location of the casualty and a team 4x4 vehicle was able to drive straight to the scene carrying both equipment and personnel.

A BMRT spokesperson said: “It was clear the casualty would have to be carried on a stretcher back to the visitor’s centre, so while an initial medical assessment was being carried out team members began to prepare the necessary equipment.

"Pain relief was given to the casualty to ease the movement onto the stretcher, before transferring her to the warmth and security of a casualty bag and vacuum mattress.”

Carrying the stretcher to the visitor’s centre was then very straight-forward say the mountain rescue team and the patient was soon in the care of the ambulance paramedics for further treatment and the onward journey to hospital.

A spokesperson added: “Cheshire Lowland Rescue and Buxton Mountain Rescue are grateful for the help from members of the public who kept the casualty warm and made the appropriate 999 calls, and to Martin, the Cheshire East Countryside Ranger who helped throughout the incident.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and hope to see her back soon enjoying the local countryside.”
