Penalty for misuse of parking permits

People caught misusing their Blue Badge parking permit are being warned they face having it confiscated and being fined £1,000 in a new crackdown on cheats.

Blue Badges are issued to people with severe mobility problems and a badge holder can display their badge in their car or any vehicle they are travelling in, to park closer to where they need to be. In some areas displaying the badge also allows them to park for free.

Derbyshire County Council has launched a new crackdown campaign and its parking enforcement officers will step up the regular checks they carry out in the county’s parking hotspots.
