First team manager Graham Smith, reserve team manager Tony Eddlestone, Dave Oakes, Mark Shore and Paul Knight are hoping to raise money to enable Gamesley FC to undertake vital pitch restoration and drainage works at Melandra Park.

Mick Dewhurst, club chairman, said: “Although the football season is coming to a close, it’s now that the hard work begins in our efforts to ensure the pitch is ready for next season and efforts such as the cycle ride help to fund the vital works we need to carry out.”

There will also be a fun day at the Bluebell Wood pub, on Glossop Road, on Sunday to hopefully celebrate the achievement of the cyclists, along with helping to raise further funds for the necessary works to take place over the summer.
