Julie Riley and Jane Jackson met at their local Slimming World group, and since then have joined forces to take part in a number of running events to raise money for charity.

And the pair are set to tackle their biggest challenge yet when they pound the capital’s streets on April 13 as part of the Slimming World team to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The charity is one close to their hearts as both ladies have lost family members to the disease.

Julie, who has shed over eight stone, said: “The charity helps to fight a cause very close to our hearts and raising money through Slimming World is a great way to give something back.

“I can’t wait for the atmosphere on race day and to successfully complete one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.

“This will be one of the biggest challenges of my life and I can’t wait to run it with Jane by my side.”

“I think losing weight together, as well as signing up to races together, made a big difference because we were able to spur each other on every week and encourage one another to keep motivated.”
