Motorway mayhem after plane crash and car smash leave five injured
Motorists in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are being warned to expect delays on the M1 after a car smash and a plane crash.
Three people suffered minor injuries after four cars collided on the M1 southbound between junctions 29 (Chesterfield) and 28 (Alfreton) at about 2pm.
Meanwhile, a small plane crashed in a field near the M1 at about 1.30pm, closing the southbound lane from junctions 27 (Hucknall) to 26 (Nottingham).
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire police confirmed there were two casualties and an investigation had begun.
Police, fire and ambulance services are all at the scene.
