Man injured in armed raid on Derbyshire store

A staff member was left with head injuries after armed robbers raided a convenience store.

Armed with crowbars, the two masked men forced their way into the warehouse of Tesco Express, in Cranfleet Way, Long Eaton, shortly after 6am yesterday (Tuesday, October 21), threatening a member of staff and telling him to open a safe and tills.

Following a scuffle, the robbers were thought to have fled empty–handed.

Afterwards, the member of staff was taken to Nottingham Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment of non–life threatening head injuries.

One of the offenders was of slight build, about 5ft 9ins tall, while the second was about 6ft tall.

Both of the robbers were dressed in dark clothing and wore dark Balaclavas over their faces.

Detectives investigating the offence want to hear from witnesses or anyone who might know the people responsible.
