Man dies after crash on A6 at Buxton

A man has died in a Buxton road crash.

At 5.45pm on Thursday, November 10, a serious road traffic collision occurred on Fairfield Road, Buxton, near to the junction of Lightwood Road.

It involved a pedestrian and an articulated large goods vehicle that failed to stop.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old local man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the lorry, a 40-year-old man, was later traced and arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

He is due to be interviewed today.

The road was closed until 10.15pm.

Derbyshire police’s collision investigation unit is appealing for witnesses.
