Man dies after crash near Buxton

Police were called to the A53 at Quarnford shortly before 3pm on Sunday after the collision which involved a Suzuki motorbike and a VW Transporter van.

An air ambulance was called and the 49-year-old motorcyclist, who lived in the Leek area, was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

He has now sadly passed away as a result of his injuries.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Specialist officers are supporting his family at this difficult time."

Witnesses to the crash should call police on 101, quoting incident number 517 of October 29.
