Man dies after being hit by train in Derbyshire

Investigations are under way after a man was hit by a train and died in Derbyshire at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a report that a person had been hit by a train close to the line near Mill Lane in Clay Cross at about 9pm on Saturday, January 16.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers attended alongside paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service and found a man dead at the scene.

“Officers are working to identify the man and inform his family.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner. The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”
