Horses and car in collision

Police told how a Ford Fiesta driver and one of the horse riders were in a collision on Mansfield Road, Heath, about 1.30pm, on Tuesday.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “The purple Ford Fiesta was being driven from Temple Normanton to Heath and the horse riders were riding in the same direction.”

An ambulance and air ambulance were called out to take the casualties to hospital.

Police said the woman motorist was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, and was in intensive care and the horse riders suffered minor back injuries.
