Hill walker suffers ‘severe’ injuries after falling on icy Castleton footpath

A lone hill walker suffered a suspected severe leg fracture after he slipped on an icy footpath.

The walker, from Manchester, fell between Cave Dale and Eldon Hill, near Castleton, on Sunday lunchtime.

Other walkers, paramedics and members of Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams came to the man’s aid.

He was taken to Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital for treatment.
