Hay fever sufferers warned of high pollen
Pharmacists across Derbyshire are warning hay fever sufferers about the current dangers of high pollen counts.
Asthma is a potential killer and if hay fever symptoms are not controlled there is likelihood that the risk of developing asthma is tripled. Also a recent small study, by the University of Mastricht, suggests that getting behind the wheel with hay fever symptoms had the equivalent risk of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.05 per cent, which is very roughly a pint of beer.
The chairman of Community Pharmacy Derbyshire John Sargeant, and lifelong hay fever sufferer, said: “Hay fever symptoms can be addressed in a wide variety of ways, so people should pop to their local pharmacy and the pharmacist will be able to talk through the options.”
