The report means Buxton Nursery is one of only seven pre-schools in Derbyshire that have achieved the highest-rating hat-trick.

Its recent grading puts the nursery in the top 200 in the country as it is one of 172 to be deemed outstanding by the public body three times in a row.

Manager Jane Wallis said: “We have always been proud of our outstanding rating but have not sat on our laurels; we have worked hard to incorporate fresh ideas and try different aspects of current thinking in our setting.

“The staff have worked really hard to ensure the children have an exciting, joyful and happy time at nursery, learning the skills that they will need to make a strong start at school.”

The pre-school, which looks after 91 children aged between three months and five-years-old, was praised by inspectors for its rich and varied learning environment, its outstanding teaching and the paramount importance put on child safety and well-being.
