GUEST COLUMN: Macmillan fundraiser praises support from Derbyshire folk

Ashley Tipper, from the Jolly Farmer Pub in Dronfield has persuaded 18 friends to join him on a sponsored Hospital bed push on Saturday, April 9. This will see them walk 12 miles from the pub in Dronfield via Chesterfield town centre, finishing at the site of the new cancer unit.

Ashley lost his grandmother to cancer last year, and has been a long term supporter of Macmillan.

His grandmother was immensely proud of him for all the fundraising he did for Macmillan, and the idea was something they spoke about, so when she passed away it became a challenge to see if could make this happen.

Most of us know the steep hills in Bolsover but last year following the launch of our appeal, a group of local people got in touch with the idea or organising a one-mile race up that hill. Organising events takes a lot of planning, so it’s always incredible that people can still find time to come together to make something like this happen.
