Glossop nurse up for national award

A nurse who works in Glossop has been nominated for a national award.

Suren Beebakhy is one of only four nurses in the running for the patients’ choice award 2014, organised by the nursing journal, Nursing Standard.

Suren, who works for Tameside and Glossop Community Healthcare, was nominated by six patients for his exceptional care, attitude and professionalism.

The community nurse is part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s integrated health and social care response and intervention service team.

The 50-year-old has been working in nursing for 30 years, including at Tameside General Hospital and St Georges Hospital in London.

Suren said: “My commitment to nursing is a huge part of my life. Even my name is an anagram of nurse! I was so surprised when I heard about this award. For me caring and making a difference in patient’s lives is just part of my daily job, however I am immensely grateful to those who nominated me.”

Originally from Mauritius, Suren has lives in Ashton-under-Lyne with his wife Brinda and 18-year-old daughter Keshya.
