Christian Bamford admitted assaulting Andrew Hazelwood by beating him at a clothing catalogue company J D Williams’ warehouse, on Waterside, in Hadfield, on December 5 last year.

The 27-year-old, of Buxton Close, fell out with Mr Hazelwood and during the argument, thrust his chest and stomach into him.

Prosecutor Jennifer Fitzgerald said that the defendant then thrust his head towards the victim and the peak of his hard hat clipped the victim’s right eye. Kirsten Collings, defending, told the court that both men had been dismissed because of the fight, which “gave a flavour of bad behaviour on both parties”.

Bamford was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay court costs of £100, £50 compensation and a victim surcharge of £15.
