Get dining in aid of Dales–based charity

A Dales charity is calling for generous cooks to banish the winter blues and help raise funds for the terminally ill by taking part in their February fundraiser.

Helen’s Trust, based in Bakewell, is looking for people across the Derbyshire Dales to get involved in its Come Dine With Us initiative, which helped to raise over £2,500 in vital funds in 2014.

The campaign, which will be running for a second year, challenges everyone from novice cooks to professional chefs to dig out their secret recipes and put their money where their mouth is by cooking a three course meal for family and friends.

Chief executive Heidi Hawkins said: “As a small charity, we appreciate every donation we receive.

“Last year, people generously donated at their Come Dine With Us events and we were overwhelmed with the amount raised.

“With what was such a successful initiative, and a flood of enquiries from eager participants, we wanted to relaunch it again this year.

“As our ethos is to support people in their own home, we think the Come Dine With Us campaign really focuses on the warmth, generosity and comfort of home, and what better way to represent that than with home cooking and sharing with friends.

“We hope even more people will join in the fun this year and show off their cooking skills to their nearest and dearest.

“Not only does it raise money to help us fund equipment, it raises awareness of the valuable support we give to the people who use our services.

“It’s a fantastic way to beat those winter blues, have fun and help those in need.”

Helen’s Trust provides any support needed to remove the obstacles faced by people with terminal illness who want to remain in their own homes.
