Dreams come true for cancer-stricken youngster

The dreams of a cancer-stricken youngster are set to come true after an appeal helped raise cash for a trip to Disneyland.

The News put out a plea for help after hearing about the plight of six-year-old Kimberley Newton-Robinson, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in February, and was forced to spend her sixth birthday in hospital.

And after many kind donations and fundraising events, Kimberley’s mum Lauren has booked the Marlpool girl’s ultimate dream trip for April – to mark her seventh birthday.

Lauren, 22, said: “We have booked the trip for five days next April so Kimberley can spend her birthday surrounded by Disney characters. We have received many donations and kind words and want to thank everyone. Your help and support has helped make Kimberley’s dreams come true. Any donations we now receive will go spending money for the holiday to give her the best experience possible.”

Kimberley had been an active child and gave her mum no cause for concern, until Lauren spotted a lump on her neck earlier this year. She has since been undergoing chemotherapy at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. To donate visit: www.gofundme.com/236qkpk4.
