Motorists are being urged to be extra vigilant and to ensure that their vehicles are properly locked and secure, with the alarm activated where available.

Officers are also encouraging firms to consider adding a drop of diesel dye to their tanks in a bid to further protect themselves from being targeted by thieves.

Any drop of fuel that is then taken from stores or tanks of their fleet vehicles can then be traced back to the companies, meaning that diesel thieves can be caught and linked to a particular crime.

Anyone with any information about the above incident is asked to contact PC Craig Sharp on 101, quoting crime number 48039/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
