Police are encouraging people to protect their personal details following recent cyber-attacks to the phone and internet providers, Talk Talk and Vodafone.

Internet provider Talk Talk has recently been the victim of a attack which could give hackers the personal data of more than four million customers.

And mobile phone company Vodafone has also seen almost 2000 of its customers’ private information stolen.

Although it is currently unknown exactly what data has been targeted, the companies stated that that there is a chance that it includes personal details such as customer’s names, addresses, date of birth and email addresses.

Following the incidents, residents in Derbyshire are being encouraged to be vigilant to potential scam emails that may appear in their inbox, and to monitor their bank accounts for any unusual activity.
