The competition, again hosted by Fern Britton, puts gardening amateurs to the test through a series of challenges to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, make impressive floral arrangements and cook preserves made from their produce.

Jonathan said: “It’s great to be back for a second series.

“I hope it will inspire more people to grow their own flowers and bring a piece of the garden into their home.

“After series one there was so many people inspired to grow, cut and arrange their own flowers and hopefully in 2015 even more people will be motivated to have a go,” he added.

The Big Allotment Challenge starts tonight at 9pm with the series running every Friday night for six weeks.
