Derbyshire fire chief suspension lifted

The chief fire officer of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority, Sean Frayne, is no longer suspended from his job.

It follows his acquittal of a rape charge. He was cleared of the charge by a jury at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday for the allegation dating back to 2006.

A spokesman said: “Today (Friday) at a meeting of the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority, the suspension of Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive Frayne was lifted with immediate effect.

“The interim management arrangements that have been in place since March 2014 to ensure the continued delivery of an effective emergency service will remain in place until the fire authority and Mr Frayne have agreed the next course of action.”
