A bizarre event which sees people eating at a restaurant in the dark is set to return to Buxton.

‘Dining in the Dark’ took place at the Buxton campus of the University of Derby last year and proved a hit - so much so that the event, the brainchild of events management student Manon Ghequiere, is back on the menu this year.

Despite the fact that blindfolded customers couldn’t see what they were eating, who they were eating with and hadn’t even looked at the menu, Manon says the feedback was positive.

Manon, who is studying for a BA Hons. degree, said: “People eat with their eyes so this will be a totally different experience for the diners.

“They will have to guess what they are eating by taste and smell alone, but it’s all part of the fun.

“The feedback received by the guests and people working on the event really encouraged me to plan a second dinner that I hope will be even better than the first one.”

Guests can choose between meat, fish or vegetarian options but will have no idea beyond that what will be served.
