Parents fined after their teenage children book holiday let in Chapel-en-le-Frith for a party

Ten different households have been fined for breaching coronavirus rules after a group of teenagers booked a holiday let in Chapel-en-le-Frith to have a party.

A group of 10 people, aged between 15 and 18, were caught partying at a property on Manchester Road late on Friday night, police said.

All of the attendees were handed £200 fines but as six of them are under the age of 18 their parents were given a fixed penalty notice on their behalf.

Police refused to provide the name of the holiday let but a Buxton Police safer neighbourhood team spokesperson said the owner was handed “a considerable fine as well as an order to cease business from trading standards.”

Anyone meeting in a large group in England can be fined £200 for the first offence, doubling for further offences up to a maximum of £6,400.

The police can also issue fines of £10,000 to anyone holding an illegal gathering of more than 30 people.
