Operation to clamp down on driving problems starts

Officers from the Buxton and Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Team are heading out on the road to clamp down on driving problems as part of a targeted operation.

Operation Jericho is part of an on-going operation to tackle issues raised by people living in the community, from noise nuisance from groups of drivers gathering near homes and leaving their engines running to speeding vehicles on roads around the town, often late at night.

To tackle the issue, police will be heading out on high visibility patrols around Buxton town centre and Fairfield, to speak to drivers about their behaviour and how it affects the local community.

PC Mark Parkinson, from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Speed checks will also be carried out to keep the roads in the area safe for cyclists, pedestrians and other motorists. Enforcement action will be taken where necessary.”
