Damaged front door at formergirlfriend’s house

A man who damaged the front door of his ex-partner’s house has been fined.

Francesca Matthews was at her home in Buxton on April 25 with her partner, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard. At around 8.40pm, Ms Matthews received a telephone call from her ex-boyfriend Dean Wilson saying ‘get him out here now’, prosecutor Jennifer Fitzgerald said. She then heard four or five loud bangs on the front door as Wilson hit out at it, causing damage to one of the panels.

Wilson was arrested and interviewed and said he had been getting on fine with Ms Matthews but didn’t like her new partner. He claimed he had received a text message from an unknown number saying ‘“guess where I am” which he believed was from Ms Matthew’s new partner.

Wilson, 28, of Eccles Close, Hope, admitted criminal damage.

James Riley, defending, said Wilson had already compensated Ms Matthews for the damage.

He added: “The defendant has to move away from that relationship.

“There was a degree of provocation, of being wound up.”

Wilson was fined £225 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £22 surcharge.
